Photo Shoot – Hope
Over the years, I’ve tried to simplify my approach to portraits. I used to do a lot of complex setups with up to 3-4 strobes or lights. But when you’re building your body of work, it can be tough to scrounge up the money to pay a good assistant or team of people to help out. I used to “pay” people by buying them dinner or drinks b/c that’s all that I could afford. I would typically pay would could, but sometimes it wasn’t enough. So, I was kinda forced to simplify things. I can and will, from time to time, still do very complex lighting for a photo shoot. But recently, I’ve found myself really drawn to ease and beauty of window light. To get really beautiful light, you typically need large windows and as with this photo shoot with Hope, I was lucky to find a good hotel with large windows. So everything you see is pretty much window light.
